Position Summary

The Engineering Aide will assist the experimental particle physics group with electrical and mechanical aspects of their Phase 1 ATLAS upgrade electronics projects. This position will primarily be scheduled for 20 hours per week. However, as needed and mutually decided upon, there will be periods in which additional hours of up to 40 hours per week will be needed.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assisting in PCB design and layout.
  • Testing and analysis of electronics boards.
  • Design and fabrication of associated mechanical mounting for these electronics.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Engineering or related technical field AND four years of instrumentation fabrication, maintenance and repair experience; OR, six years of instrumentation fabrication, maintenance and repair experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in electrical and/or mechanical design or as an electrical and/or mechanical technician, including some college coursework.
