The Massage Therapist performs a variety of duties to support the Customer Service Department of Campus Recreation. The Massage Therapist administers professional therapeutic and sports massage to RecSPA clients. Responsibilities include but are not limited to having a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, possessing a general understanding of body treatments and willing to learn spa specific massage and body treatment offerings; must possess excellent customer service and communication skills and be able to learn the service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness solutions to meet the needs of clients. They must hold and maintain a current state license.

Massage Therapists must perform within certification and/or training standards and/or Code of Ethics and demonstrate a professional appearance and demeanor both on and off campus that favorably represents the University of Arizona and the department of Campus Recreation. Massage Therapists are encouraged to participate in promotions and events.

• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Model department values and expectations.
• Conduct massage therapy sessions in accordance with industry standards and state licensing guidelines.
• Present oneself and massage therapy services with the highest level of professionalism.
• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Take preventative action for hazards and injuries and immediately communicate issues to direct supervisor.
• Arrive at least 10 minutes prior to and be prepared for every massage therapy session.
• Special projects as assigned.

• Possess valid certification and current state license.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Be proficient in various body work techniques and modalities.
• Be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
• Early morning, evening and weekend availability; flexible scheduling and break availability.

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND one year of instructional or subject work experience; OR, five years of progressively responsible instructional or subject work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
