Position Summary

Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Auditory Neurosciences at the University of Arizona, Department of Physiology.

This Postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Showen Bao at the University of Arizona. The research in the laboratory is concerned with the mechanisms underlying physiological and pathological plasticity in the auditory system during developmental and after hearing loss. Current projects focuses on the mechanisms underlying 1) developmental cortical plasticity, 2) functional impairments in mouse models of developmental brain disorders, 3) hearing loss-induced brain reorganization, 4) tinnitus, and 5) dynamic modulation of neuronal connectivity and selectivity. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in molecular, cellular, electrophysiological and behavioral neuroscience in the auditory system.
  • Analyze research data using Matlab and other software, and writing drafts of manuscripts.
  • General lab maintenance and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in the biomedical sciences, M.D. or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A record of productivity in molecular, cellular, systems, electrophysiological and/or behavioral neuroscience research.
  • Expertise in qRT-PCR, Western blot, Elisa, subcloning, patch clamp electrophysiology, invivo/chronic extracellular recording, optogenetics, and/or behavioral genetics.
