Position Summary

The laboratory of Dr. Sushovan Guha—- at the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The successful candidate will be invited to join a collaborative research team utilizing computational and informatics methodology in Gastroenterology research. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who has exceptional analytical and communication skills, capacity to work independently. The applicant should be detail oriented, conscientious, and able to follow instructions. The Postdoctoral Research Associate is expected to conduct research with minimum supervision and to prepare manuscripts for publication.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Apply data science methods, medical language processing, machine learning, data mining, and computational and informatics methodology in Gastroenterology Research.
  • Evaluate clinical decision making, clinical workflow, outcomes and quality using Biomedical Informatics
  • Independently perform experiments pertinent to the aims of the project under the supervision of the principal investigator.
  • Design, participate and monitor Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance initiatives in the division under the guidance of the Faculty and concerned personnel.
  • Collect, analyze, and prepare data for publication.
  • Attend group meetings, seminars, and journal clubs.
  • Supervise and design data acquisition and control programming activities.
  • Laboratory record keeping and General laboratory activities.
  • Other reasonable related laboratory activities.
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation and participation at scientific conferences.
  • Train students and staff in the research activities as directed by the principal investigator.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Coordination of experiments.
  • Grant writing and manuscript preparation.
  • Ability to participate at scientific conferences and present findings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MBBS or MD or PhD or equivalent degree in Healthcare related field.
  • Appropriate Degree or Experience in Medical Informatics or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong motivation and dedication to scientific discovery is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop reports and manuscripts and present findings in tabular, oral, written, and/or graphic formats.
  • Working knowledge of Programming and ability to develop appropriate solutions to research problems.
