The Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences (SLHS) at the University of Arizona is recruiting a full-time clinical faculty (instructor, assistant or associate level, dependent upon qualifications) to join our growing interdisciplinary voice care team. This position interfaces with the clinical education mission of SLHS and the service delivery mission of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS) at Banner University Medical Center, Tucson. The position is housed in SLHS and clinical service delivery will primarily be in the OHNS Clinic at the nearby Banner University Medical Center. The SLP will work with two fellowship-trained laryngologists and other faculty to develop new programs and collaborations, supervise and mentor speech-language pathology graduate students, and contribute to OHNS resident education.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with the physicians to provide clinical service delivery to adults and children. The primary patient care focus will be voice, laryngeal, and airway disorders. Participate in all facets of clinical service including evaluation and management, providing pre- and postoperative education and care, documenting service delivery, and coordinating care with providers within and outside Banner Health.
• Perform videolaryngoscopic (fiberoptic and rigid) examination of the larynx, computerized acoustic and aerodynamic voice assessment.
• Provide clinical teaching and supervision of clinical service delivery in your area of specialty. Contribute to classroom teaching as needed.
• Conduct research in voice and laryngeal disorders.
• Identifies performance improvement issues and participates in performance improvement activities.
• Additional duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Candidates must have a solid foundation and interest in evaluating and treating a wide variety of voice and laryngeal disorders.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have:

  • Appropriate graduate degree in speech-language pathology, or speech, language, and hearing sciences, or equivalent.
  • License/license-eligibility for practice in Speech-Language Pathology in the state of Arizona.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or be eligible to complete a Clinical Fellowship.
Preferred Qualifications

An interest in conducting and presenting research is preferred.
