Position Summary

The Department of Economics at the Eller College of Management seeks two full-time lecturers of economics with reputations for excellence in teaching large lecture classes. The Department seeks individuals who are able to work with diverse students and colleagues, and who have experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives. The faculty members will also contribute through some departmental, college, and university service.

With outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs, the Arizona Department of Economics is also the home of the Economic Science Laboratory, the world’s pioneer in experimental and behavioral economics for teaching and research, as well as the Institute for Behavioral Economics and the Office of Economic Education.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach three economics courses, or two large-lecture economics courses, per semester.
  • Prepare class syllabi and notes.
  • Grade assignments and conduct and grade exams.
  • Hold office hours.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Experience teaching undergraduates in large-enrollment lecture courses, especially Principles, successfully.
  • Ability to work with diverse students and colleagues.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Economics or a related field.
  • Five or more years of teaching experience, post Ph.D., in Economics.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, evidenced by course evaluations, teaching awards, or other means
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives.
