Position Summary

This position will be located in St. Johns, Arizona and will provide programming for the 4-H Youth Development in Apache County. The position could be half-time or three-quarter time (0.50 or 0.75 FTE). The Program Coordinator will work closely with the 4-H Youth Development Faculty in Apache County Extension to identify and create opportunities for 4-H members, adult leaders and other youth in the county. Programs will emphasize personal growth, leadership development and skill development of youth and adult volunteers. This position provides the youth in the county with non-formal educational opportunities designed to help them develop into productive and engaged citizens. This position works with both traditional club and non-traditional youth programs. Support and training for volunteer leaders and management of the 4-H club program are included. Rate of pay is contingent on experience and education. This position is benefits eligible.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Promote and strengthen 4-H Youth programs through 4-H clubs, after school programs, short term/special interest programs, and/or school enrichment efforts.
- Develop and facilitate workshops and meetings; coordinate logistics, scheduling and participant communications.
- Evaluate program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devise evaluation methodology and implement; analyze results and recommend and/or take appropriate action.
- Recruit program participants, members and volunteers utilizing most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures or presentations at meetings
- Organize, establish and maintain record-keeping system for 4-H on-line system including 4-H member and 4-H leader cerification and enrollment. Prepare periodic reports and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management of the program.
- Effectively communicate verbally, via email, voicemail, and social media as well as in writing and in person.
- Interact and maintain liaison with faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.
- Work evenings and weekends, occasionally as needed.
- Travel in local and surrounding communities and occasional long distance travel is required as a regular part of this position. Requires reliable transportation upon employment.
- There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to this position.
- This position requires a valid Driver’s License. Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years of administrative/coordinative program experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible administrative coordinative program experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in volunteer management
- Experience with the 4-H Youth Development program
