Position Summary

The Arizona Student Union is seeking a full-time Cook, Entrée to join our team. This position is located at Chick-Fil-A in the Student Union Food Court. The incumbent is responsible for the preparation and production of all menu items to meet customer needs.

The Arizona Student Unions consist of both the Student Union Memorial Center (SUMC) and the Park Student Union, as well as Highland Market and a number of convenience stores and food stops around campus. In addition to campus dining services and catering, the Arizona Student Unions also run mall scheduling, concessions at athletic events, Fast Copy & Design, the Union Galleries, Games Room, the Gallagher Theatre, and a Post Office Contract Unit.

The Student Union Memorial Center is one of the largest student unions in the United States. The SUMC contains everything students need – restaurants, retail spaces, a bank, lounges, study/meeting rooms, a computer lab, art gallery, and a movie theater. SUMC is often referred to as the “living room” of the University. With Student Engagement, dining services, retail services and more, we strive to provide a “home away from home” to balance the diverse educational, recreational, cultural and social needs of today’s student.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepares menu items according the unit standards
  • Maintains adequate quantity of product throughout the meal periods
  • Serves items following portion standards
  • Replenishes work station as needed ensuring adequate inventory
  • Keeps work area clean and makes sure all temperatures are correct
  • Works harmoniously with coworkers
  • Prevents cross contamination of food products
  • Weighs, labels and dates all food items; stores in designated areas
  • Cleans counter top, plexiglass windows, walls, shelves, drain screens and floor mats
  • Actively supports and participates in the philosophy of great customer service
    Is knowledgeable of and follows all Chick-fil-A policies and recipes
  • Maintains good communication relationship with CFA representative

Physical Requirements

  • Often withstands large workload under high heat
  • Occasionally lifts and carries a minimum of 30 pounds
  • Frequently reaches, bends, lifts, shakes, stirs, pours, carries and pushes
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of food service production and service techniques and standards

• Skill in operating various institutional and commercial kitchen equipment

• General knowledge of weights and measures

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to write, read and understand English

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Two years of commercial or institutional cooking experience; OR, any combination of experience, training and/or education.
