Position Summary

This .50 FTE position will report to and support the AVP for Financial Planning/Analysis, who provides strategic and financial planning advice and counsel to the Secretary of the University, as well as the Executive Office of the President. This position will primarily work on two critical and urgent projects for the University: 1) TRIF renewal and 2) ranking analysis. This is expected to be a short-term position through December 2018.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Identify, gather, and manage structured and unstructured source data to support the University’s government relations and planning functions.
• Analyze the data quantitatively and qualitatively to identify opportunities for improvement at the University.
• Join or mashup these new structures with existing structures to lever the value of the new structures.
• Perform statistical analysis on the data to identify relationships not readily evident through traditional analysis.
• Create tabular and graphical reports to make the data accessible for broader and less technical audiences.
• Prepare summary spreadsheets, presentations, and written reports for leadership.
• Catalog, document, and support the data structures and underlying processes so that other analysts can understand and make use of the data as well.
• Conduct surveys and facilitate focus groups to generate topical source data as needed.
• Collaborate with other analysts at the University.
• Work independently to develop and execute on work plans required to complete work in an organized manner.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field appropriate to the area of assignment
• Experience analyzing and combining structure and unstructured data
• Experience using Excel and other Office Productivity software

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a STEM field appropriate to the area of assignment,
• Experience managing relational databases like Oracle
• Experience using statistical reporting languages like R
• Experience with reporting programs like Tableau
