Position Summary

The AZ Student Unions, is seeking a full-time Dining Services Attendant, Senior to join our team. This position is located at Highland Market, a 24/7 market and grill. We are looking for a responsible individual to monitor and supervise the daily operations, perform monthly inventory checks, ensure adequate staffing, and ensure compliance in all aspects of the preparation or service of food.

The Arizona Student Unions consist of both the Student Union Memorial Center (SUMC) and the Park Student Union, as well as Highland Market and a number of convenience stores and food stops around campus. In addition to campus dining services and catering, the Arizona Student Unions also run mall scheduling, concessions at athletic events, Fast Copy & Design, the Union Galleries, Games Room, the Gallagher Theatre, and a Post Office Contract Unit.

The Student Union Memorial Center is one of the largest student unions in the United States. The SUMC contains everything students need – restaurants, retail spaces, a bank, lounges, study/meeting rooms, a computer lab, art gallery, and a movie theater. SUMC is often referred to as the “living room” of the University. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervises the daily operation of the unit including food production, staffing, operations, budgets and labor
  • Schedules and assigns duties to employees to ensure coverage is maintained at all times
  • Works closely with staff to evaluate employee skills and provide training as needed
  • Communicates with supervisor regularly to provide input and recommendations for improvement
  • Monitors to ensure proper setup and closing procedures are followed for all stations
  • Ensures customers are greeted and served in a friendly courteous manner
  • Maintains equipment through regular service checks, completing work orders for maintenance when needed
  • Serves as cashier: ringing in orders, verifying bank to ensure accuracy and prepares reports as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of food service operations including sanitation standards and food preparation
  • Knowledge of food service equipment, such as steamers, slicers and fryers
  • Ability to multi-task is essential
  • Skill in following oral and written communication
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience and working knowledge of food service operations including sanitation standards, food preparation and food service equipment
  • Experience managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must have or be able to obtain a ServSafe certification within 3 months of hire date
  • Supervisory experience including hiring, training, and scheduling of employees
  • Ability to read, write and speak effectively in English
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience in food service operation; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.
