Position Summary

The successful candidate for this classified staff position will implement and participate in the development of initiatives to increase the ability to engage volunteers throughout Arizona Cooperative Extension by: ensuring compliance to all internal policy and procedures; provide
appropriate training to faculty, staff and volunteers, serve as liaison to all relative groups with the University of Arizona and develop and maintain training materials for all areas of responsibility.

Work is based on the University of Arizona main campus and performed in a variety of locations depending on the activity. The candidate will need to meet travel demands of the position, including a valid driver’s license.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with Extension faculty and staff to develop program appropriate systems (policies and procedures) of volunteer recruitment, screening, certification, supervision, evaluation, and recognition.
• Educate volunteer trainers in the relevant program principles to develop a consistent message.
• Ensure compliance with state, local and national policies and standards relative to volunteer engagement in programs
• Coordinate the planning and implementation of state level leadership development programs for all areas of Extension programs.
• Utilize outcome measurement tools to identify ongoing needs, and adjust the volunteer training plan as needed.
• Prepare regular reports as required for Cooperative Extension volunteer programs; train county staff in the preparation of reports from the appropriate database.
• Point of contact for volunteer platforms and databases, including the Designated Campus Colleague (DCC) process.
• Coordinate with supervisor and program leaders to maintain relevant training programs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years of administrative/coordinative program experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible administrative coordinative program experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in adult education or volunteer development and management.
• Experience in curriculum development, volunteer/staff supervision, project management, planning, and budgeting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and achieve goals and objectives.
• Excellent conflict resolution, team building, and collaboration skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to deliver effective presentations to groups.
• Familiarity with webinar platforms.
• Experience with generating and testing creative solutions to program challenges.
• Strong face-to-face, email and phone communication skills.
• Proficient at Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
