Position Summary

The Arizona Student Unions Marketing Department is looking for a Graphic Designer to join our team. As a Graphic Designer you will be expected to work independently and creatively to design and produce unique and effective marketing materials and communication campaigns for the Student Unions.

The Arizona Student Unions consist of both the Student Union Memorial Center (SUMC) and the Park Student Union (PSU), as well as Highland Market and a number of convenience stores and food stops around campus. In addition to campus dining services and catering, the Arizona Student Unions also run mall scheduling, concessions at athletic events, Fast Copy & Design, the Union Galleries, Games Room, the Gallagher Theatre, and a Post Office Contract Unit.

The Student Union Memorial Center is one of the largest student unions in the United States. The SUMC contains everything students need – restaurants, retail spaces, a bank, lounges, study/meeting rooms, a computer lab, art gallery, and a movie theater. SUMC is often referred to as the “living room” of the University. Duties & Responsibilities
  • From concept to production, designs, illustrates, and prepares printing layouts for all forms of marketing materials: (electronic) eBlasts, web pages, user interfaces both mobile and other, presentations, web advertisements, digital signage: (print) advertisement, postcards/self-mailers, booklets, brochures, magazines, newsletters, annual reports, banners, posters, point-of-purchase displays, signs, flyers: (logo) campaigns and identities: (3D) displays, signage, apparel design: (photography) architectural, product, food
  • Work from and maintain already developed marketing campaigns for various retail dining locations
  • Operates various graphic design equipment such as graphic computers, cameras, printing and lettering equipment
  • Utilizes established expertise in MAC-based software such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, and Acrobat, as examples, including Microsoft Office software such as PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Software: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, Acrobat, including the Microsoft Office Suite of software, all on a MAC platform
  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS
  • Expertise and proficiency with digital and off-set printing processes (separations, CMYK, spot colors, duotones, etc.) and experience working with industry vendors, creating small-space and large-format environmental designs. Proficiency in RGB mode in creating email, video and web graphics required
  • Demonstrated experience in photo shoot direction, selection and image manipulation particularly in regards to structure/product/food photography
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Graphic Design or related field AND two years of experience in graphic design; OR, four years of experience in graphic design; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
