Position Summary

This position coordinates activities and functions for the Arizona Simulation Technology and Education Center (ASTEC) to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the program are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications. This classification is intended for positions with incumbents that have responsibility for a particular program. A program provides a specific service or carries out specific activities as a separate entity or as a component program within a department such as student service programs or sponsored programs, but it is not a department itself.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Schedule and assist with the implementation of simulation training events in accordance with University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS) curriculum specifications.
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of proposal for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors.
  • Coordinate activities of program, including maintenance of program learner management system, with departments or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate simulation center policy, procedures, and healthcare educational priorities.
  • Prepare and maintain periodic reports, records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
  • Evaluate administrative effectiveness to develop improved methods; devise evaluation methodology and implements; analyze results and recommend and/or takes appropriate action.
  • Develop, compile and write communications and promotional literature for distribution such as newsletters, brochures or flyers; coordinate process from development through printing and distribution.
  • Prioritize and arrange meetings, conferences and appointments for unit administrator; make necessary travel reservations and itineraries; determine and prepare background materials needed.
  • Investigate, evaluate and resolve typical administrative/operational problems or situations impacting staff/faculty work unit.
  • Plan and supervise the set up or sets up medical simulation training events including assembling equipment and preparing learner groups/faculty; assist with the disassembling or disassembles medical simulation equipment
  • Interact and maintain liaison (e.g. conducts tours) with students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.
  • Assist with business transactions through the UAccess systems, including but not limited to, time and labor process, procurement of supplies, prepare disbursement vouchers and PCard purchases.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as it relates to the position.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years of administrative/coordinative program experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible administrative coordinative program experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • One year experience working with medical simulation and/or hospital equipment OR coordinating activities in a medical simulation training environment.
