Position Summary

The School of Landscape Architecture and Planning in the College of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture (CAPLA) is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator serves as the key coordinator of the Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program, Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments (SBE) program, and Heritage Conservation Certificate program. This 1.0 FTE position is supervised by the school director. The Program Coordinator must be self-generative yet able to work in a team, collaborating with college administrators, school director, faculty, peers, and graduate and undergraduate students in a professional and collegial manner to achieve the mission and goals of the college and school. The program coordinator will work closely with the school director and CAPLA business office on curricular development, marketing and recruiting strategies, student admissions and enrollment, and will interface with outside academic and non-academic programs and units for educational and outreach purposes.

CAPLA is comprised of two academic departments: The School of Landscape Architecture and Planning, and the School of Architecture. These schools foster a culture of innovation in research, teaching, and outreach aimed at advancing professional practice in preparing students to be leaders in their respective fields. Creative thinking and collaborative learning through interdisciplinary coursework and real-world projects are central to CAPLA’s pedagogy. Graduates are able to integrate scientific and artistic knowledge with resourceful innovation to achieve outcomes that demonstrate best practices for the development of healthful, livable, and meaningful places. This position will support the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning with a focus on the Masters of Real Estate Development, Sustainable Built Environments, and Heritage conservation programs.

The Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) Degree program prepares the next generation of skilled leaders in the areas of sustainable practices, urban design, finance, site development, construction, and real estate asset management. The program includes a series of three fully-online, stackable certificates that culminate in a Master of Real Estate Development Degree with the addition of a 3-credit capstone course.

The Sustainable Built Environments (SBE) program offers a solutions-based, interdisciplinary undergraduate degree that educates students in the comprehensive understanding of environmental design, planning, and management challenges, and offers on-campus and fully-online Bachelor of Science and minor degree options.

The Heritage Conservation program educates students in the preservation of the built environment as part of a comprehensive ethic of environmental, cultural, and economic sustainability, and culminates in a Graduate Certificate in Heritage Conservation.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with the CAPLA business office, School Director, and the Dean on the development of degree business plans, and marketing and recruiting strategies.
• Collaborate with faculty to develop curricula and courses and manage the course approval process through UAccess, including room and course scheduling, course modifications, and new course proposals in accordance with university deadlines and procedures.
• Assist in the initiation, preparation, and coordination of dual degrees, Accelerated Masters Program (AMP) options, online certificates, and degrees.
• Consult and coordinate with potential public and private agencies and private companies for potential development, internship, and practicum opportunities.
• Recruit and correspond with prospective students and provide information about the programs including academic and career advising such as course information, and curriculum matriculation, employment options, and student life.
• Manage admissions and enrollments and work with academic advisors to properly place students within the degree and certificate programs.
• Develop and liaise with other academic and non-academic units (Eller College of Management, School of Geography and Development, College of Engineering, School of Natural Resources and the Environment, Department of Soil, Water and Environmental Science, American Indian Studies program, School of Family and Consumer Science, Urban Land Institute, Tucson Association of Realtors, CCIM, etc.) to develop educational, research, and outreach opportunities for students and faculty.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in field appropriate to area of assignment and two years of administrative/coordinative program experience or any equivalent combination of experience, training, or education.
• Exceptional organizational skills and communication skills; with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.
• Possess strong communication, organizational skills, and team coordination

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in an area associated with real estate development, business administration, and/or design, planning, sustainability, construction management, or related field.
• Familiarity and experience with the UAccess system and University of Arizona policies and procedures.

  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Experience using UA software programs, including UAccess (Student and Analytics),
  • Skill in program development such as marketing, social media, logistics and assessment.
  • Work experience in a University setting.
