Position Summary

The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine welcomes applicants for the position of Program Coordinator. We are seeking a highly motivated, self-directed, innovative, and energetic graduate program coordinator responsible for assisting in coordination of PhD programs, CMM Master’s program and online/microcampus courses. Individuals with a commitment to student support and success are especially sought for this position. The ideal candidate will be an active listener, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties will include working collaboratively on the following:

  • Designing and preparing recruitment materials and program policy manual for the departmental graduate programs. Providing information and answers to procedural questions from faculty, current and prospective students.
  • Compiling data files on prospective students, reviewing files to determine best candidates based on established criteria and presenting best of new student applications for review of the departmental graduate studies committee; serving on the committee to advise faculty of procedures and policy interpretation.
  • Planning, preparing budget request, arranging itineraries and coordinating travel, lodging, and meals for personal interviews with potential graduate students. Planning and participating in departmental new student orientation program.
  • Monitoring students’ program of study and academic progress and advising student and Chair of the departmental graduate studies committee of potential problems. Conferring with students to provide technical advice and problem-solving assistance; answering questions about program goals and policy interpretation.
  • Serving as liaison to the Graduate College on behalf of the Department and the individual student. Interpreting Graduate College/University policy and procedures for same.

Bachelor’s degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years of administrative/coordinative program experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible administrative coordinative program experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Effective organizational skills, problem solving abilities, and the ability to maintain discretion and diplomacy toward sensitive and confidential information are essential.
