The Office of Instruction and Assessment (OIA) seeks an Instructional Applications Support Specialist in support of instructional technology activities at The University of Arizona. This individual will work with OIA staff in the support of the University of Arizona’s adopted instructional applications including the D2L course management system, and all of its integrations, as well as Panopto Lecture Capture, Adobe Connect, Turnitin.com and Turning Technologies Audience Response System.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Supports the UA’s instructional applications including its course management system, D2L, its lecture capture system, Panopto, its online learning and collaboration platform, Adobe Connect, its plagiarism reduction application, Turnitin.com and their mobile components.
•Train/support/orient UA faculty and staff on these instructional applications
•Test functions of specific tools and help develop workarounds within the above instructional applications
•Occasional weekend support during semester start up for D2L and other team tasks as assigned
•Consults with faculty and TAs on appropriate use of technology in instruction including instructional design principles
•Refers clients to other university resources as appropriate
•Assists in the development of the above instructional applications help pages and related resources
•Attends staff meetings, contributes to planning and reporting efforts, and responds to administrative requests and procedures.
•Provides input in the process of implementation and support of tools, documentation, and materials that promote and support online learning.
•Provides support for other campus units on visual design best practices within D2L.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

•Ability to complete a high volume of tasks in a professional and timely manner.
•Ability to interact with faculty in a 1-on-1 setting.
•Present in front of groups of faculty.
•Create online software documentation.
•Read and apply basic html tags.
•Able to adapt to the changing and evolving instructional application environment.

Minimum Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree.
•Excellent customer / client relations.
•Experience working with the Desire2learn (D2L) course management system or similar Course Management system such as Moodle, Blackboard or Canvas.

Preferred Qualifications

•Knowledge of basic instructional design principles and constructs.
•Experience providing instructional support in higher education.
•Experience working with screencasting and or lecture capture software such as Camtasia, Snagit, Panopto Lecture Capture and Jing.
•Experience working with Adobe Connect or other web conferencing tool such as Zoom, Blackboard Collaborate and GoToMeeting.
•Experience with graphic design
•Knowledge of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and web design
