The University of Arizona Health Sciences Office of Research Administration is looking for a coordinator to work closely with our team in a fast-paced environment. This position will offer ample opportunity to learn about the world of research administration in support of faculty who conduct research in the multiple colleges that comprise the UA Health Sciences. This position has a specialized focus on the College of Medicine – Phoenix Campus (COM-P).

As a coordinator, your regular tasks will include:

  • Assisting in the development, coordination, and submission of research proposals for funding from private, federal, and state sources.
  • Drafting, collecting, and completing research administration documents including biosketches, facilities descriptions, grant applications, budgets, other support pages, training grant tables, progress reports, and more to ensure timely grant submission and award.
  • Supporting the management of grants, clinical trials, and contracts.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in an academic research environment, or an equivalent combination of experience and education; excellent communication and computer skills; and significant attention to detail.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with the completion of a number of internal and external forms related to grants and contracts, including but not limited to UAccess Research proposals, SF424 application forms, budgets and justifications, biosketches, letters of support, current and pending support statements, progress reports, and facilities and resources pages.
  • Provide other appropriate assistance to ensure quality and timely completion/submission of external research proposals and ongoing grant management.
  • Assist with internal grant announcements and internal grant competitions.
  • Assist in training and orientation for faculty who need to comply with the NIH public access policy. Review and complete data entry to ensure compliance in progress reports and biosketches.
  • Manage and maintain data integrity of a trainee database used to track our NIH T32 grant programs. Audit data for accuracy. Investigate and implement changes and improvements to ensure quality.
  • Maintain core facilities descriptions to be shared with all faculty. Obtain and index new descriptions. Maintain list and integrity of the information.
  • Follow up on outstanding Confidentiality Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements and other agreements to ensure timely completion of negotiations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in an academic research environment, or any equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • Experience with UA systems, specifically UAccess Research.
  • Willingness to work weekend and evening hours when necessary during heavy proposal submission periods.
