Position Summary

We seek an applicant for the position of Director, Clinical Decision Support and Pharmacogenetic Services for the Divisions of Clinical Data Analytics & Decision Support and Medical Toxicology and Precision Medicine at the College of Medicine – Phoenix.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plans, directs and reviews the activities and operations of the department.
  • Develop and manage department budget.
  • Develops long- and short-range goals to strategically align department with overall goals of University.
  • Develops, maintains and implements department policies and procedures. Acts as liaison with faculty, advisors, administrators and staff from both the university and external agencies.
  • Manages the design, development and coordination of projects.
  • Work and build relationships with multiple departments across both the college and university.
  • Identifies issues which may impact the department, resolves problems and issues affecting the department, and directs measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
  • Develops objectives and activities based on department goals.
  • Represents the college/department and serves on various department and university committees.
  • Direct and supervise high profile and major events for the department/college.

Management Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the recruitment, training and supervising activities of staff.
  • Responsible for implementation of workflow procedures.
  • Responsible for orientating and conducting training of new staff.
  • Resolves issues relating to staff escalations.
  • Works with staff to maintain and meet deadlines.
  • Maintains work schedules team.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of issues pertaining to clinical decision support, electronic medical records, genomics and pharmacogenetics.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of organizational practices.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
  • Skill in budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment, and eight (8) years of related administrative experience which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Adobe.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with similar academic programs.
