Position Summary

The Department of Accounting in the Eller College of Management invites applications for one tenured or tenure-eligible faculty positions to begin in August 2018. The faculty member will conduct state of the art research; teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels; and contribute to mentoring students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds. The faculty member will also participate in outreach and contribute to departmental, college, and university service. In these and other ways, the faculty member will help to develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement, increasing diversity, and expanding collaborations with community and business partners. The Department is seeking strong, experienced scholars who are able to work with diverse students and colleagues, and who have experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives. According to the 2014 BYU Research Rankings, the Accounting Department ranks #1 in tax and #2 in audit for research generated by graduates of our PhD program. The Department also ranks #5 in tax for research generated by our faculty. The Accounting Department continues to grow the Master of Science (MSA) in Accounting program. The program is geared towards students with flexible needs and helping students obtain their CPA license. College Choice ranked our Master of Accounting (MAcc) as the 29th best Master of Accounting program for 2015. Our Master of Accounting program offers students an option between two different tracks of study: Audit or Tax. The Department of Accounting continues to support students in achieving success both inside and outside the classroom.


The Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona is internationally recognized for pioneering research, an innovative curriculum, and distinguished faculty. Research is at the heart of the College’s mission. With 130 doctoral students in residence across six academic departments, the College is among an elite group of AACSB-accredited business schools conducting research at the highest level. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach various undergraduate and graduate accounting classes and contribute to mentoring students.
  • Be actively involved in research; research standards are high and the emphasis is on continuing research. Preference will be given to research or teaching related to tax or financial.
  • Contribute significantly on the service dimension, meeting the needs of both the department and college and to enhance their external stature.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Accounting or relevant field.
  • Record of high quality research published in leading academic journals, with an emphasis on continuing research.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, evidenced by course evaluations, teaching awards, or other means.
