Position Summary

Nutritional Sciences is seeking an inquisitive, well-organized, and highly motivated person to work on projects investigating radiation-induced damage to the salivary gland. The successful candidate will work both collaboratively and independently conducting a diverse range of activities from laboratory ordering to participating in experiments utilizing variety of molecular biology techniques.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist PI with experimental procedures utilizing the listed techniques:
    immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunoblotting, RT/qPCR, FACS analysis, in vivo procedures (injections and radiation) and genotyping genetically engineered mice.
  • Assist in maintenance duties involved in general laboratory management such as bookkeeping, ordering supplies, preparation of solutions, maintain laboratory compliance
  • Assist PI in preparation of figures for manuscripts and grant applications
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures and analysis of results for presentation purposes
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures as needed

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Four years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

*Demonstrated knowledge of modern research methods in molecular biology
*Strong organizational, critical thinking and follow-through skills
