Position Summary

The College of Medicine Phoenix Finance Office is seeking a full-time entry level professional to work with the centralized finance team for the College of Medicine-Phoenix Campus. This position supports the college budget administrator by performing a wide range of college transactions and reports. The duties to be performed require fundamental applications of budgeting and financial theories and principles. This position is in a complex, evolving, and fast-paced environment and therefore must be flexible and adaptable. This position reports to the Budget Administrator of the College of Medicine Phoenix Campus.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepares straightforward or recurring financial schedules or reports for management or outside agencies to reflect financial situation; assists Budget Administrator in more complex or specialized assignments.
  • Arranges different types of data into a variety of formats such as charts, graphs or tables for management comparison purposes.
  • Reviews reports and various data; investigates irregularities and reports to supervisor; makes adjustments and necessary corrective entries.
  • Analyzes transactions and documents procedures to ensure compliance with finance principles and university regulations.
  • Analyzes financial data and makes general interpretations and recommendations.
  • Reviews computer reports and investigates and reports or corrects inconsistencies and errors.
  • Performs data analysis and makes recommendation and adjustments as needed.
  • Keeps informed by researching and evaluating appropriate professional and related literature as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of financial practices, procedures and generally accepted financial principles.
  • Skill in performing detailed numerical computations.
  • Skill in preparing detailed reports.
  • Skill in the use of computer hardware and software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Entry level experience working with and analyzing budgets.
  • Experience with budgeting and accounting software
  • Intermediate level skill with Microsoft Excel.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related area with accounting coursework; OR, four years of progressively responsible and diverse accounting experience and coursework in which a broad exposure to all areas of accounting and accounting principles, practices and procedures was acquired; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of financial reconciliation.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in higher education or government finance.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with creating electronic budget reports.
  • Intermediate-level Microsoft Office skills.
