Position Summary

The Office of Digital Learning is seeking a Course Support Specialist to assist in the design and maintenance of courses within fully-online degree programs for UA Online. The ideal candidate will provide instructional design support and professional development to faculty and instructional designers within the context of quality assurance initiatives. This position will be responsible for completing quality reviews of online course design and implementing and reporting course design recommendations, with a focus on universal design for learning and accessibility. Experience collaborating closely with diverse groups of stakeholders, to include faculty, instructional designers and technologists, and university partners within a higher ed context is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Assist the Quality Assurance team in managing the quality assurance process for online courses, to include preparing reports and facilitating formative design assessments
- Assist faculty with redesign of courses for online delivery, including the incorporation of instructional technology, communication, and collaborative student engagement
- Provide professional development and consultations on the Quality Matters rubric, Universal Design for Learning, and course design best practices for faculty and staff
- Regularly liaise with the instructional design team at The Office of Digital Learning to stay abreast of instructional design best practices and new course technology

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and interact within a diverse, multicultural community
- Ability to prioritize multiple, competing tasks and to meet deadlines in a fast-paced team environment
- An eagerness and agility in learning new skills, technologies, and practices related to education

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related academic discipline
- Exceptional project management skills and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Experience with technical writing, content authoring, content organization, and/or content mapping
- Experience with Quality Matters or other evaluation tools as they relate to the assessment of content organization and online course design

Preferred Qualifications

- Degree or advanced training in instructional design, educational technology, or related academic discipline
- Training in instructional design, educational technology or related field
- Experience collecting and tracking data in Excel or Access to inform decision-making
- Expertise and knowledge of best practices for the design and development of online courses
- Familiar with ADA compliance, accessibility issues and universal design principles
- Demonstrated ability to maintain currency with emerging technologies
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with college faculty in the development of online courses
- Experience with Course/Learning Management Systems, such as D2L
- Experience as a student in a fully-online course
