Position Summary

Under general direction, coordinate and administer training and professional development programs of the University Development Program (UDP). The Training Specialist collaborates with all business areas of the UDP to develop learning solutions designed to meet business objectives. They will perform needs assessments to determine training requirements that support business objectives and address gaps in employee skills and knowledge. They will also develop training materials, document central service team processes and procedures, administer training programs, evaluate training effectiveness against program objectives, and provide recommendations for improvement.

This position serves as a member of the University Development Program (UDP) Human Resources & Talent Management team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for developing and maintaining system user procedures, guidelines, and documentation of all LMS processes. Manages users, learning objects, and courses in the LMS.
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining the UDP’s LMS including training the organization and/or applicable personnel in its use.
• Analyzes learning trends and statistics, and recommends best practices that support value-added enhancements. Captures key data to demonstrate ROI of learning initiatives.
• Accountable for assigned learning and development projects from beginning to end using project management methodologies and tools, as appropriate.
• Facilitates training classes, tutorials, or help sessions on a group or individual basis when needed.
• Promotes learning activity through a variety of media, maximizing LMS as a tool and increasing use of LMS.
• Supports the creation and/or revision of existing learning and development programs, including but not limited to orientation, technical training, employee development, and leadership training.
• Tracks training and learning activity and records key metrics ensuring training histories are complete and up to date, including evaluations and assessments.
• Manage the documentation of several development team processes and procedures including creating a curation schedule, creating internal manuals, and collaborating with subject matter experts to ensure most current processes are documented and accurate.
• Manage training notifications, training calendar, and department intranet pages.
• Follows the end-to-end process from room booking, training availability, invites, and course confirmations.
• Provides functional and technical support to end users in services and training. Communicates with IT and vendor(s) to resolve problems.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and schedule multiple tasks with minimal supervision and adjust to changing priorities and assignments.
• Proficient with Raiser’s Edge and Blackbaud CRM, or similar fundraising database.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Ability to communicate to multiple levels of technical understanding.
• Collegial and Team player mentality; Collaboration skills with a strong grasp on working cross functionally.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, to speak and to write well required.

• Understands user account management, directory, file structures, and systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues.
• Proficient in personal computing equipment and software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and others.
• Flexibility and eagerness to learn and develop.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and professional work experience designing and delivering trainings and administering a training program; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience administering a learning management system.
• Demonstrated experience using course authoring tools like Articulate Storyline or Camtasia.
• Demonstrated experience using current technologies for the design, evaluation and distribution of instruction.
