The Department of Pharmacology in CoM has a strong internationally recognized program dedicated to the study of various forms of pain including cancer, skeletal, neuropathic, headache, and inflammation-induced pain, as well as molecular and cellular changes in the blood brain barrier. The expertise of the current faculty members encompasses a spectrum of molecular, neurobiological, cardiovascular, and neuropharmacological techniques allowing for vibrant collaborative efforts designed to address the question of the underlying causes and treatment of chronic pain.

To this end, a Postdoctoral Research Associate I position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Rajesh Khanna, and will perform patch-lamp electrophysiology in experiments on projects related to chronic neuropathic pain and neurofibromatosis using biologic and small molecules.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform experiments to further existing research programs and grants, concentrating on identifying new signaling regulators of channels and their mechanisms, utilizing both in vitro and in vivo models.
  • Share supervisory responsibility for research technical staff including graduate and undergraduate students.
  • If required, present talks, posters and research findings at national and international conferences.
  • Attend regular group meetings; manage, maintain, and order laboratory equipment and supplies; and respond to administrative request and procedures.
  • Generate new ideas and projects for development.
  • Assist with preparation of grants and manuscripts.
  • Supervise and train junior students, may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • M.D. or Ph.D in Neurobiology, Pharmacology, or related field.
