The University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music is seeking a vibrant, innovative conductor/teacher with a recognized national/international profile for excellence in choral conducting for the position of Associate Professor of Music – Director of Choral Activities (full-time, tenure-eligible).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervise the professional graduate degree program in choral conducting
  • Conduct Arizona Choir, the 40-voice, premiere graduate choral ensemble
  • Teach, mentor and advise graduate conducting majors, including those from underrepresented backgrounds
  • Provide artistic and administrative leadership for the choral program in collaboration with the two other choral faculty members
  • Recruit outstanding candidates for the conducting and applied voice programs
  • Maintain a national and international reputation as a choral conductor, scholar and pedagogue
  • Work collaboratively with faculty in the Fred Fox School of Music
  • Participate in outreach and contribute to departmental, college and university service
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in choral conducting or related area
  • Record of sustained excellence in choral performance and scholarship
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population and to embrace diversity in their work
Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in choral conducting or commensurate professional experience.
  • Demonstrated success with university recruitment
  • Successful college teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Experience conducting instrumental ensembles in support of choral activities
