Position Summary

This position is located in Kingman, Mohave County, AZ. This is an Extended Temporary, grant funded position, lasting up to two years.

This position will assist County Extension Agents & the Extension Program Coordinator in the development and presentation of nutrition, physical activity, and gardening programs for children, adults, and seniors. This position will work directly with parents of children, youth and community members. There will be travel involved and a flexible work schedule will be required.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist and/or organize, promote, coordinate, and conduct nutrition, physical education, and gardening programs in Mohave County.

Answer inquiries and provide information relating to the completion of reporting forms and program related meetings, materials, and record keeping. Compose newsletters, prepare reports, and fulfill other related functions related to the conduct of the assigned nutrition education program for Mohave County communities.

Coordinate the activities of nutrition, physical activity, and gardening programs for youth, adults and seniors in Mohave County.

Initiate and participate in needs assessment for nutrition, physical activity, and gardening for youth, adults, and seniors program planning, development and implementation.

Participate in curriculum development, planning and implementation.

Initiates and participates in needs assessment for nutrition and physical activity for family’s program planning, development and implementation for SNAP-Ed.

Follows SNAP-Ed policies and procedures regarding implementation, marketing, evaluation, and recruitment so as to ensure accountability

Is responsible for maintaining and communicating supply (materials, incentives) needs and quantities with coordinator and administrative secretary to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.

Develop and implement appropriate lesson plans according to approved curricula and follows procedure for resource items including but not limited to recipes, incentive items, and handouts

Communicates with Supervisor daily, weekly, monthly scheduled activities and schedule so as to ensure the needs of the community and the grant deliverables are being met.

Is responsible for maintaining and submitting financial records (receipts, invoices, mileage logs) to administrative secretary according to established policies and procedures.

Is responsible for scheduling workshops according to grant deliverables and for transportation to and from these workshops

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of teaching principles, practices and procedures.

Demonstrated knowledge of organizational skill in community coalition building.

Experience in obtaining community resources.

Experience in record keeping and composing routine newsletter and preparing reports.

Minimum Qualifications

Skill in using the internet.

Access to reliable transportation upon employment.

Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, coordinator, supervisor, site directors, and participants

Skill in record keeping

Skill in marketing (newsletters, flyers, brochures)

Proficient in Microsoft Office, including the use of Excel, Word, and Publisher

Skill in database usage

Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, four years of progressively responsible instructional or subject work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of experience in community education and working with volunteers.

Demonstrated general cooking knowledge.
