Position Summary

The Department of Parking and Transportation Services is seeking drivers to drive for our Cat Tran Shuttle/Disability Cart Service, transporting passengers throughout campus. Operating a multi-passenger ADA-compliant vehicle to transport passengers to and from designated locations locally and regionally in accordance with established safe driving methods and standards.

NOTE: This position will work a 9-month work calendar with summers off.

Shift will be from 10am-7pm, Mon-Fri. Occasional weekends as needed for special events.

These positions are part of the mandated drug-testing program. These positions are subject to random drug and alcohol screenings.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operates a variety of multi-passenger vehicles to include utility and golf carts to transport passengers to and from designated University locations and local/regional University-sponsored events in accordance with established schedule.
  • Assists disabled or special needs passengers in entering, riding, and exiting vehicle and ensures passenger safety at all times.
  • Performs routine service and maintenance of University vehicle(s) including, but not limited to: fuels vehicle, cleans interior/exterior, checks and replaces vehicle fluids, tires, lights, and wipers to ensure ongoing safe operation of vehicle in accordance with established maintenance standards.
  • Performs pre-trip inspection of vehicle to ensure compliance with established state regulations and reports mechanical or safety device failures.
  • Maintains accurate vehicle and passenger logs of all trips in accordance with established requirements; reports all accidents and completes all associated incident reports as required.
  • Locates and picks up vehicle replacement parts as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of shuttle compound area.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • This position will require working outside in adverse weather conditions (e.g, extreme heat and cold)

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications
  • 6 months of experience driving buses, trams or passenger vans; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
  • Possession of a valid Arizona Class A, B or C Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement is required upon employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations, Arizona motor vehicle laws and regulations, and Commercial Driver’s License requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic emergency management methods including CPR.
    Knowledge of proper and safe use of applicable equipment including appropriate evacuation methods.
  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics and lifting procedures/methods.
  • Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance practices and methods.
  • Skill in safely operating an ADA-compliant multi-passenger vehicle.
  • Skill in applying appropriate customer service standards to maintain courteous working relationships.
  • Skill in meeting deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Skill in working and communicating effectively in a busy, collaborative and diverse environment.
