Position Summary

The Department of English at the University of Arizona, Sierra Vista is seeking applications for limited term adjunct instructors to teach advanced composition, technical writing, literature, and/or creative writing classes for Fall 2018. Limited Term Adjunct Instructors who enjoy working with a diverse, non-traditional student population through a variety of modalities (online, hybrid, or in small classroom settings using interactional television to connect remotely) will find the best fit at UA Sierra Vista.

A limited number of openings are available each semester, contingent upon enrollment and funding. The possible appointees may not be enrolled in any UA degree program during the contract period.

Limited term adjunct instructors are required to attend meetings and submit materials as requested throughout the term of appointment.

Possible teaching locations the instructors may travel to include:
UA at Pima East and Desert Vista in Tucson, AZ, UA Santa Cruz at Nogales, and the UA at Cochise in Douglas, and Sierra Vista, AZ.

This position may require some travel between UA Sierra Vista and UA Main sites. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Syllabi and assignment preparation.
  • Course lectures / workshops.
  • Grading and critiquing student assignments.
  • Maintain regular office hours.
  • Attend meetings as necessary
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • MFA in Creative Writing, English or in related field.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state in which applicant resides.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in a related field.
  • Demonstrated professional commitment to teaching.
