Position Summary

In this position, the incumbent is expected to provide administrative leadership for the operations of online learning and to enhance the capacity of the College of Nursing faculty to engage in contemporary teaching/learning practice and strategic evaluation across all academic nursing education activities. S/he will collaborate with faculty, faculty governance groups as well as program and administrative leaders across the college to develop faculty supports and communications to facilitate and assure that best practices in teaching/learning are applied to curriculum design and revision, conventional classroom and digital instruction, and evaluation of programs.

Organizational Relationship: The Director will be accountable to the Dean, in collaboration with Associate Dean of Student Support and Community Engagement, and Academic Division Chairs).

The successful applicant will also hold a Faculty appointment in the College of Nursing in the rank of clinical or tenure/tenure eligible assistant, associate or full professor; in which rank will be determined by the Faculty Appointment, Promotion and Tenure committee.

Duties & Responsibilities

General activities and responsibilities (50% administrative efforts, 50% teaching or other responsibilities assigned)

  • High quality conduct of:
    – UA College of Nursing Online programs, including collaborating with UA Online for online course/program development and implementation.
    – Holistic assessment as applied to College admissions for all degree programs.
    CCNE accreditation-related activities – collates and writes portions of the self-study and coordinates site visit.
  • Development and Implementation of:
    – College-wide evaluation of degree programs.
    – Faculty teaching/learning practice development opportunities to optimize teaching and learning student experiences and outcomes.
  • Mentoring for new and continuing faculty in the practice of teaching [on-ground and online].
  • Collaborating with degree program coordinators/ directors to develop relevant evidence-informed, education-focused policies/ guidelines across degree programs.
  • Administrative assistance with implementation of new educational pathways and revised curricula.
  • Liaison to relevant health sciences and university committees.
  • Other faculty and program development/implementation responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Faculty appointment in the College of Nursing in the rank of clinical or tenure/tenure eligible assistant, associate or full professor.
  • Provide evidence/receipt of a Registered Nursing License in the state of Arizona prior to first day of employment with the College of Nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in leading nursing degree programs and curricular evaluation.
