The School of Natural Resources and the Environment (SNRE) is hiring an Accountant to support financial and administrative tasks for the School. This position will require the candidate to set priorities, handle multiple tasks and have a working knowledge of accounting, business and office functions. Highly qualified candidates will be organized, self-directed and professional. The Accountant must be able to work individually and in a team to provide prompt and accurate information to administration, faculty, students and staff. This position will require working in a fast paced team environment under the supervision of the Business Manager, Senior supporting 200+ employees and 400 business accounts.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Submit position changes such as FTE, compensation, account distribution as needed.
- Prepare and monitor sub-awards/contracts and initiate payment requests.
- Process purchase orders.
- Initiate and reconcile, internal billings, travel documents, purchases, GECs, SETs and other financial documents.
- Purchasing card approver.
- Process cash receipts.
- Maintain department voyager card information and submit annual fleet data report.
- Analyze Xerox billing and submit transactions.
- Process supplemental compensation for faculty.
- Reconcile monthly FedEx charges.
- Distribute payroll checks.
- Manage internal billings for ART lab poster printing and services.
- Assist with space inventory as needed.
- Assist with quarterly indirect cost distributions as needed.
- Assist with department events such as RISE, Short Course and Fluxcourse
- Assist with report development on SNRE dashboard as needed.
- Assist with post-award grants and contracts as needed.
- Assist with capital inventory as needed.
- Additional duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.

Skill in performing detailed numerical computations.

Skill in preparing detailed reports on a timely basis.

Skill in the use of computer hardware and software.

Ability to effectively communicate.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related area with accounting course work AND one year of professional accounting experience; OR, five years of progressively responsible and diverse accounting experience and course work, which includes at least one year of professional accounting, in which a broad exposure to all areas of accounting and accounting principles, practices and procedures was acquired; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
