Position Summary

The AZ Student Unions is seeking a Media Technician to join our team. This position is part of the Operations Unit and will assist in the delivery, set-up, operation and maintenance of a variety of audio visual equipment. This includes computer image projectors, video projectors and wireless microphones. Incumbents may be required to travel to off-site locations and work weekends and evenings to accommodate conference schedules.

The Arizona Student Unions consist of both the Student Union Memorial Center (SUMC) and the Park Student Union, as well as Highland Market and a number of convenience stores and food stops around campus. In addition to campus dining services and catering, the Arizona Student Unions also run mall scheduling, concessions at athletic events, Fast Copy & Design, the Union Galleries, Games Room, the Gallagher Theatre, and a Post Office Contract Unit.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Schedules and arranges the use of audiovisual equipment for faculty, staff and students upon request; maintains reservation schedule including type of equipment, length of time needed and time scheduled to return.
  • Assists in the delivery, set up and removal of equipment in meeting rooms within specified timeframe.
  • Checks outgoing and incoming equipment for damages and malfunctions.
  • Coordinates the use of audiovisual/setup equipment on-site and ensures smooth presentations by operating equipment, adjusting lighting and coordinating presentation materials.
  • Assists with room set-up which can include moving furniture, seating, tables, and other types of equipment for events.
  • Operates scissor lift and other moving equipment.
  • Drives Student Union vehicles to travel to various work sites to support event set-up requests.
  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Working knowledge in the operation, maintenance and repair of state of the art multi-media instructional equipment, including related computer hardware and software.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree or two years technical training in related field; OR, two years experience in the operation and maintenance of a variety of audiovisual equipment; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience as media technician in a larger venue.
  • Experience operating scissor lift and other moving equipment.
