Position Summary

The Center for Simulation and Innovation invites individuals who thrive in a team-based environment to join a fast-paced, high-energy team. The Program Coordinator will coordinate the utilization, daily operation, and maintenance of the Center’s high and low fidelity simulation equipment. This includes operating the learning management system, scheduling and set-up and re-set of rooms for simulation course training, assisting faculty and staff with high and low fidelity training scenarios, and assuring the efficient operation of the Center while maintaining a high-quality customer service environment. This position may support events on the weekends and evenings, as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide timely and accurate assembly, preparation, organization (setting and re-set) of simulation lab rooms, equipment, technology, supplies and other resources for scheduled healthcare simulations, debriefings, tours and other events.
  • Support participants in use and best practices of simulation equipment, providing an appropriate orientation to simulator and task trainer features in the simulated learning environment.
  • Order, track, manage, and maintain equipment and supply inventory levels within the inventory control system. Identify and submit order requests for low inventory items on a regular basis to purchase and replenish equipment and supplies at optimal levels as determined by management.
  • Maintain current knowledge on the use, operation, troubleshooting and best practices of varied hardware, software and network equipment, technologies and applications used in the Sim Center, including:
    • Simulation Equipment, Technology and Applications (high and low fidelity mannequins, task trainers, various simulators, etc.)
    • Healthcare Equipment, Technology and Applications ( items used in healthcare settings)
    • Educational Equipment, Technology and Applications (standard audio-visual equipment and systems such as Learning Space, projectors, microphones, portable screens, tablets and laptops, DVD players, etc. used for teaching, monitoring and recording purposes).
  • Work with varied vendors and equipment to maintain, test, clean, and send equipment out for repair and refurbishing.
  • Act as backup to the Simulation Center Technician, delivering support to the faculty, students, staff and guests as needed.
  • Serve as Simulation Operator running simulations with faculty instructors.
  • Assure simulation equipment and supplies are in place, and in good working condition prior to the start of all simulations.
  • Conduct tours of the Simulation Center for community and student groups, accurately presenting and describing the goals, activities, and assets of the CSI.
  • Assist Simulation Center staff in day to day activities as needed, including flexible working hours to support events that may require after hours and weekends to assure successful outcomes.
  • Follow all University, COM-P and CSI designated operational policies, procedures and documentation.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare equipment and supplies.
  • Knowledge of various technologies, including basic hardware, software and network technologies, audio/video equipment, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills sufficient to prioritize multiple repetitive tasks simultaneously to maintain efficient and timely SIM Center operations.
  • Customer service skills that display a professional, positive and helpful attitude at all times.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal communications skills sufficient to interact with faculty, staff, students, vendors, business leaders, and K-12 guests participating in CSI training, tours, events or other activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization in a culturally diverse student and associate community.
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to perform multiple activities in a dynamic environment that can have changing priorities and frequent interruptions.
  • Self-motivated and requires minimal supervision to complete tasks to scope and on time.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Fine motor skills to support set-up and use of small, hand-held medical devices and supplies.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, carry and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years of administrative/coordinative program experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible administrative coordinative program experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical experience in health care delivery and/or health education.
  • Experience working with different types of medical equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications relevant to simulator function.
  • Proficient with web-based computer programs (GoogleDocs and Box) and Microsoft Office suite, scheduling, simple accounting, spreadsheets, email.
