Position Summary

The Arizona Center on Aging is seeking a Research Specialist to perform in-clinic and in-home visits using body worn sensor measures and measures of cognition, as well as MRI coordination and analysis of MRI data using FSL. The selected candidate will have experience with consenting, collecting clinical and sensor data, with data entry, and FSL and STAT. This position requires ingenuity, resourcefulness and adaptability to special and changing needs of aging research.

The incumbent may modify and adapt standard procedures to meet the needs of the project, analyze data, assist with writing papers and manuscripts for publication, and coordinate the work of student workers and volunteer staff. The position will require travel to perform in home visits and coordination of data collection at assisted living centers, long term care facilities, or other community sites.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform in home, hospital, MRI lab clinical research visits.
  • Data entry into RedCap.
  • Analyze data.
  • Assist with writing papers and manuscripts for publication.
  • Coordinate the work of student workers and volunteer staff.
  • Attend weekly meetings.
  • There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to this position.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of aging, cognition research.
  • Knowledge of modern research methods, data collection and analysis and skill in their application, including body worn sensors, clinical and MRI data.
  • Skill in analyzing and evaluating sensor, clinical and MRI data using STATA, or SPSS, and FSL.
  • Skill in abstract, paper, poster writing.
  • Previous work with body worn sensors- BalanSens, LegSys, and UEF.

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two years related research experience; OR, Six years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Pre-med graduate with BS in health science.
  • Previous experience with elders in geriatric research.
  • Transportation for home visits.
  • Experience in elder communication.
