Position Summary

The Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department is currently in need of experienced candidates for the position of Instructional Specialist, Senior to deliver existing content in teaching multiple sections of Ecology Courses.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Attends an orientation meeting before the start of the semester.
• Teaches multiple discussion sessions/labs per week.
• Holds one office hour per week at a regularly schedules time and place.
• Respond to student emails with information or a meeting within two working days.
• Assesses student work according to rubrics and records grades every week.
• Assists in developing course curriculum for undergraduate biology students.
• Reviews and evaluates effectiveness of teaching methods and work activities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications

• Previous interactive teaching experience.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND one year of instructional or subject work experience; OR, five years of progressively responsible instructional or subject work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a field appropriate to an ecology and evolutionary biology course.
• Previous experience teaching an introductory biology course.
• Knowledge of teaching principles, practices and procedures.
• Excellent organizational skills.
