Position Summary

The UA RISE Health and Wellness Center (HWC) serves adults with serious mental illnesses or both psychiatric and substance use disorders who are in the SMI entitlement program. The HWC’s “Camp Wellness” program serves to increase participants’ knowledge, skills and abilities to live independently in the community, develop a lifestyle that improves their personal health and wellness, and to reduce physical health co-morbidities toward the goal of increasing the lifespan of persons with serious mental illnesses, which is 32 years shorter than that of the average population.

The Dining Service Attendant (Kitchen Aide) will assist in preparation of meals and snacks, prepare the dining room for meal service, serve meals, operate dish washing equipment, maintain cleanliness of dining room and kitchen areas.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with food preparation tasks.
  • Set-up and replenish serving lines.
  • Serve food with good customer service.
  • Scrape and prewash dirty dishes, silverware, glassware, and cooking utensils.
  • Operate dishwashing machine.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dining room and kitchen areas: sweep, mop floors, clean dining room tables and chairs, clean kitchen surfaces and equipment.
  • Ensure leftover food is labeled and stored correctly.
  • Inventory area and complete required forms.
  • Monitor and accept food inventories.
  • Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work area.
  • Maintain recovery-oriented work environment.

  • Ability to effectively communicate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Current TB clearance (within the past year).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Personal and/or professional experience working with individuals with serious mental illnesses.
  • Share passion for health and wellness.
