Position Summary

This position will be located in Duncan, Arizona and will provide programming for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs for Greenlee County. The position is part-time (0.5 FTE). The Instructional Specialist, Senior develops, presents and helps to coordinate educational activities, projects and programs. The position delivers STEM activities to youth and adults in school settings and community events. Some of the programming will be in conjunction with and in support of the Greenlee County 4-H Program.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Implement, plan and deliver STEM education to Greenlee County youth and adults through schools and non-formal educational venues.
• Develop new and utilize existing STEM curriculum/materials and deliver lessons.
• Evaluate program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devise evaluation methodology and implement; analyze results and recommend and/or takes appropriate action.
• Recruit program participants, members and volunteers utilizing most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures or presentations at meetings.
• Develop and schedule programs in coordination with the Greenlee County 4H Youth Development Program. This may include providing activities at club/project meetings, summer camps, etc.
• Prepare periodic reports and records on 4-H STEM program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
• Develop and facilitate workshops, meetings or conferences; coordinate logistics, scheduling and participant communication.

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND one year of instructional or subject work experience; OR, five years of progressively responsible instructional or subject work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience and knowledge of STEM education.
• Skill in the use of personal computers and software.
• Ability to problem solve and make decisions.
• Teaching skills.
• Knowledge of organizational practices.
• Ability to effectively communicate.
