Position Summary

The Research Specialist, Principal (temporary) will work on the transport and magnetic properties of thin films heterostructures, including fabrication of magnetic multilayer thinfilms by magnetron sputtering, patterning of micrometer or nanometer-sized current perpendicular to plane spin-valves or tunnel junction, characterization of magnetic anisotropy by vibrating sample magnetometer, and measurement of various spin-dependent transport properties at room temperature and low temperature.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work on the transport and magnetic properties of thin films heterostructures.
  • Fabricate magnetic multilayer thinfilms by magnetron sputtering.
  • Pattern micrometer or nanometer-sized current perpendicular to plane spin-valves or tunnel junction.
  • Characterize magnetic anisotropy by vibrating sample magnetometer.
  • Measure various spin-dependent transport properties at room temperature and low temperature.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Spintronics and nonomagnetism.

Doctorate degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three years of related research experience; OR, Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND four years related research experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
