Position Summary

The Wireless Networking and Cyber Security Research (WiSeR) lab at the Department of ECE of University of Arizona is seeking a visiting Ph.D. student to do research in the area of privacy-preserving big data analytics. Specifically, the research will include one or more of the following themes: privacy-preserving location data publishing, differential privacy, formal privacy measures, privacy in streaming data, etc. The position is expected to last for one year, from Fall 2016 to Fall 2017.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include research in the area of privacy-preserving big data analytics. Specifically, the research will include one or more of the following themes: privacy-preserving location data publishing, differential privacy, formal privacy measures, privacy in streaming data, etc., under the supervision of Professor Ming Li. The main expected outcome is to publish papers at well-known conferences and journals in the field related to information security and privacy. The student will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other students in the WiSeR lab.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two years related research experience; OR, Six years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior research experience, or publications in competitive journals and conferences related to the technical themes above is a plus.

The successful candidate should already have a Master’s degree in either electrical engineering, computer science, or related fields. He/she should be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at another university majoring in information security related fields. The student should have a solid background in cryptography and information security.
