Position Summary

The Associate Director of Development raises significant levels of philanthropic support for the University of Arizona Health Sciences. The Associate Director of Development will partner closely with the University of Arizona (UA) Foundation and the UAHS Development Team to create and exceed fundraising goals and objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Help to promote and maintain a culture of philanthropy across the UAHS and the UA.
  • Secure major gift private support for the University of Arizona Health Sciences.
  • Oversee prospect identification, cultivation and solicitation programs.
  • Work with UAHS Development staff and leadership to develop and enforce fund-raising priorities.
  • Plan, implement and manage a comprehensive development program.
  • Design and implement specific plans of action for a portfolio of major gift prospects.
  • Participate in the strategic planning of program initiatives.
  • Work to maintain and cultivate relationships with donors and potential donors.
  • Coordinate activities with the central staff at the University of Arizona Foundation as well as development officers in other units.
  • Work within all established University of Arizona Foundation guidelines and the University of Arizona Gift policy to establish and maintain necessary internal processes and procedures.
  • Travel will be required and occasional overnight stays may be involved.
  • Will be required to work evenings and/or weekends as necessary to cultivate and solicit donor prospects.
  • There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to this position.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with donors, volunteers and faculty members.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related office equipment.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or three (3) years’ experience managing and directing a comprehensive fund-raising program or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising capacity
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fund raising principles and procedures
  • Development experience in higher education setting
  • Demonstrated success in planning, organizing and managing fund-raising campaigns
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge fundraising system.
