The Department of Mathematics at the University of Arizona invites applications for Visiting Assistant Professor (non-tenure eligible) to be appointed, contingent upon budgetary approval. The position is expected to start Fall 2017. The department is seeking candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching and strong research potential, who will contribute to and benefit from the rich environment of the department. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The Visiting Assistant Professor will teach 9-12 units per academic year, including a range of undergraduate and graduate courses. The teaching load is dependent on the strength of research program and the need of the department.
  • Attend department meeting and training sessions when required, and follow department policies and guidelines related to teaching.
  • Continue a strong research program
  • Involvement in departmental activities and outreach is encouraged.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates are expected to have a PhD in a relevant field by time of hire.
  • A track record of excellence in teaching mathematics or statistics.
  • Commitment to a strong research program.
