Position Summary

The University of Arizona College of Medicine (UACoM) and the University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) seek outstanding scientist(s) in the general area of cancer immunobiology or cancer immunology. The UACoM, UACC and the Department of Immunobiology recognize the power of a diverse community and strongly encourage individuals with varied experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds to apply.

The successful candidate(s) will join the UA Department of Immunobiology (primary), and the UA Cancer Center Biology Division, at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. Tenure could be awarded where applicable, depending on seniority and standing in the field.

The successful candidate(s) should have a track record of scholarly productivity and demonstrated ability to secure independent, peer-reviewed funding such as an NIH R01, commensurate to its . A track record of basic and translational research in cancer immunobiology or immunology is preferred.

UACC is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer through patient care, research and education. It is a matrix Cancer Center with its membership cutting across multiple academic disciplines to facilitate highly innovative and transdisciplinary cancer research. Faculty members from the University of Arizona College of Medicine are located on a single campus and broadly contribute to the UACC’s transdisciplinary research, which include four outstanding Research Programs: Therapeutic Development, Cancer Biology, Cancer Imaging, and Cancer Prevention and Control.

Translational research is strongly supported by the Cancer Center with outstanding shared resources in clinical trials, biostatistics, bioinformatics, mouse models, and tissue acquisition and analysis. The Center has the ability to perform CLIA whole genome sequencing, and this effort is evaluated by a genomics Tumor Board. Outstanding University core facilities in mass spectrometry, structural biology and functional genomics are also available to all University scientists.

Applicants must have a PhD and/or MD degree at a current rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The department is seeking an individual who is able to work with diverse students, trainees and colleagues, and who has experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives. Preferred Qualifications
  • Record of productivity in academic accomplishments as evidenced by publications and successful peer-reviewed funding.
  • Established expertise in working with diverse communities.
