Position Summary

The Department of Basic Medical Sciences at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix (COM-P) invites applications for a faculty position in regenerative medicine. We seek an outstanding scientist to investigate basic and translational aspects of induced pluripotent stem (IPS) cells related to regenerative medicine. The research program of the successful candidate is expected to align with COM-P research priorities in cardiovascular or solid organ repair and regeneration, immunology, neuroscience or oncology. Applicants will have an outstanding track record in scholarship and potential for extramural funding.

The Department of Basic Medical Sciences is a multidisciplinary unit that is growing its research portfolio by developing programs in Cardiovascular Repair and Regeneration, as well as Immune Mechanisms at Epithelial Surfaces. The COM-P is also establishing new research intensive departments of Translational Neurosciences and Interdisciplinary Oncology. Investigators have access to state-of-the-art research facilities and core services, including a University of Arizona Health Sciences GMP cell facility. In addition, faculty at Banner University Medical Center-Phoenix, the University of Arizona Cancer Center, Norton Thoracic Institute, Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, the Center for Applied NanoBioscience and Medicine, Translational Genomics Research Institute, and Arizona State University offer further opportunities for collaborative research.

Applicants must possess a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) and post-doctoral training in the proposed field of study. Preference will be given to applicants with established research programs and active extramural funding. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a federally funded and internationally competitive research program in the area of regenerative medicine.
  • Publish research findings in leading journals.
  • Develop collaborations with pertinent faculty within the college and partner institutions.
  • Contribute to the teaching and service missions of the college.
  • Engage in external academic and professional activities.
