Position Summary

Located in the geographic center of The University of Arizona campus, the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) enjoys its own learning facilities dedicated exclusively to English language training, U.S. cultural studies and special programs. All programs at the Center for English as a Second Language meet high standards of excellence, as CESL has been fully accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation.

We strive to provide superior English language instruction to native speakers of other languages through quality teaching and a curriculum that provides a rich and engaging learning environment to prepare students for academic and professional success at the University of Arizona as well as for other academic, professional, and social settings.

We are seeking candidates for multiple Adjunct Instructor positions for daytime, evening, and special programs for the 2016-2017 academic year.

This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible faculty position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach 4-18 hours per week. Maximum 19.45 hours/week.
  • Remain available to students during regular office/student hours.
  • Attend all required meetings and events.
  • Complete minimal administrative tasks (attendance recording, announcements, grade input, office/student hours, etc.).
  • Perform additional duties depending on specific assignment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • MA in TESL/Applied Linguistics or a Master’s degree in a related field with evidence of coursework in TESL/Applied Linguistics.
  • Non-native English teachers must submit a recent score for at least a 28 on the TOEFL iBT speaking portion or an 8 on the IELTS speaking portion, or graduation from an institution of higher learning in and English speaking country.
Preferred Qualifications
  • More than 5 years experience in teaching multilingual classes in all areas of English language skills and at all levels of English proficiency at the post-secondary level.
