Position Summary

The successful candidate will hold the $2.1 million dollar AZ Elks Endowed Chair and function as Division Chief of Neonatology in the Department of Pediatrics. The individual in this position will provide inpatient care in the Newborn Intensive Care Units at Banner Children’s Diamond Children’s Medical Center. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the continuing development and administration of research programs in clinical and or basic science related to neonatal disorders.

Research is conducted through the Steele Children’s Research Center—one of fourteen centers of excellence at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. In this state-of-the-art facility, internationally known scientists and physicians research the causes of and develop cures for childhood illnesses and diseases.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide medical care for neonates in the Newborn Intensive Care Units at Diamond Children’s (level III).
  • Supervise the overall mission of the division in the areas of clinical, teaching and research.
  • Teaching duties include formal and informal activities with medical students, postgraduate residents, and allied health care professionals such as Neonatal Nurse Practitioners.
  • Academic activities include developing and maintaining the research programs in the division of Neonatology and providing supervision of the research faculty.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active AZ medical license by hire date.
  • MD/PhD or MD.
  • Graduate of approved training programs in Pediatrics.
  • Board Certified in Pediatrics.
  • BC in Neonatal Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Research experience and vision to build a strong academic program in Neonatology.
  • Experience in program direction/administrative responsibilities.
  • Established expertise working with diverse patient populations.
