Position Summary

The University Arizona (UA), a top 25 public research university in Tucson, Arizona, invites applications for the position of Executive Director, Community College Partnerships. The Executive Director (ED) will lead the UA’s partnerships with Arizona Community Colleges, with focused effort in transfer support and relationship development throughout the greater Phoenix area. The UA seeks to attract, enroll, retain and graduate an undergraduate student body that is highly competitive academically and reflects the rich diversity of the state of Arizona, advancing UA’s extraordinary mission of access and excellence for over 34,000 undergraduates. This position is charged with deepening UA’s community college partnerships so that each and every transfer student finds the right place within the UA, be that on the main campus in Tucson, in a distance program in Maricopa County, or with UA Online, our fully-online campus. This position reports directly to the Vice President, Enrollment Management & Student Affairs Advancement with close collaboration with the Vice President, Academic Initiatives & Student Success.

Duties & Responsibilities

The ED will lead and manage initiatives and partnerships between community colleges and the University of Arizona with attention to growing overall transfer enrollment. This position will be based in the Greater Phoenix area.

The ED will work closely with the community college systems in the greater Phoenix area and serve as the main contact for Maricopa Community College District relations for the University.

The ED will establish and implement critical partnerships to advance both the work of community colleges and the UA, leading to an increase in Arizona community college transfers graduating from the University of Arizona’s main campus, distance campuses, and UA Online.

In addition to the overarching work outlined above, other duties will include:
• Working closely with enrollment leadership on the main campus, distance education, and UA Online
• Working closely with the UA academic colleges and leadership to ensure connections and opportunities for transfer to UA
• Developing transfer opportunities, partnerships and pathways for Arizona and out-of-state community colleges
• Recommending pathways and programs in conjunction with UA’s various campuses and the Transfer Credit Articulation Office
• Participating in credit articulation discussions and decisions
• Assisting with the development and implementation of tools to support transfer students
• Assisting with the development and implementation of Reverse Transfer in conjunction the Office of the Registrar
• Meeting and following up with community college leaders regularly, and provide data for all UA campuses
• Providing reports and regular updates with each community college partner
• Working with programming/events team to host special events for community college leadership
• Staying abreast of changes at UA and keeping community college leaders informed
• Traveling regularly, two-four times per month or more, between Phoenix and Tucson
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree.
• At least five years’ experience with in an educational setting.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and successfully perform duties autonomously.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work closely and effectively with multiple departments, organizations, and individuals in a complex environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in higher education, particularly community college settings and/or with transfer students in a university/college setting.
