Position Summary

We are interested in discovering genes and biological mechanisms that regulate the development of the central nervous system and in exploring how impairment of these mechanisms leads to disease.

We are seeking highly motivated candidates to fill a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to study a recently identified gene which may be involved in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disease. Broad experiences in molecular biology, the application of human induced pluripotent stem cells to neurobiology, animal models (i.e. mouse and/or zebrafish), immunohistochemistry and pharmacology are especially desirable.

The selected candidate is expected to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and should have strong written and oral communication skills.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform pharmacologic, genomic and molecular biological assays in vitro and in vivo.
  • Contribute to research with novel hypotheses and ideas.
  • Design experiments, gain new research skills and contribute to the effort of the laboratory.
  • Collect, analyze and graph data, conclude research projects in a timely manner, and write reports, manuscripts and grants.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in neuroscience, molecular biology, pharmacology or related discipline.
  • Experience with in vitro biological assays, cell culture, molecular biological techniques and animal work.
