A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately in the Office of the Director research group at the University of Arizona Cancer Center. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with excellent analytical and communication skills who has an interest in developing novel therapeutic and diagnostic tools for patients with drug-resistant prostate cancer.

An integral part of this project will involve isolating circulating tumor cells and developing human prostate cancer bone xenograft (PDX) models. The position will involve close interactions with a multi-disciplinary prostate cancer research team.

Duties & Responsibilities

The selected Postdoctoral Research Associate is expected to independently drive a research project centered on isolating, utilizing, and characterizing the biology of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from drug-resistant prostate cancer patients. Some of the important questions that need answering include:
What are the most unbiased ways to isolate CTCs?
What genetic and biological traits do they have?
Which ones are capable of reseeding metastases?
Which ones have diagnostic benefit for predicting therapeutic response?

To successfully answer these questions the candidate will need to develop the following techniques.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field.

  • Experience in cancer biology and working with mouse models.
