Position Summary

A postdoctoral fellow position is available for an individual interested in studying either the early regulation of the hypertrophic response in animal models of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy or the structure and function of the thin filament as it relates to the development of sarcomeric cardiomyopathies.

Note: Successful candidates are not expected to have all of the qualifications listed below. The title and salary will depend on the number of years of experience.

Selected candidates will be designing and performing experiments, analyzing and interpreting results, writing articles, supervising graduate students and presenting work at scientific conferences. This position is an extramurally-funded research position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the PI to develop an integrated, multi-tiered approach to either of the projects described above.
  • Contribute independent research ideas and develop novel methodologies.
  • Train and supervise lab personnel in the operation of equipment and/or in the performance of technical procedures.
  • Compile and maintain detailed records of studies conducted; organize data and present data.
  • Actively participate in seminars, journal clubs and lab meetings.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in the Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Experience with cell and molecular biology research and protein purification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior muscle biology / biophysics experience.
  • Experience in transcriptome analysis.
  • Experience in microscopy.
  • Some experience with structural biology techniques (FRET, CD).
