Position Summary

The University of Arizona is accepting applications for an entry level Information Security Analyst. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer, this position will help monitor the information security threat landscape for the University of Arizona. Duties will include evaluating, configuring, and automating security systems and processes to improve the information security posture of the University of Arizona.

This position will also provide information security research and knowledge in incident management, risk management, and regulatory compliance for the Information Security Office.

Duties & Responsibilities

•Configuring, automating, and monitoring information security tools and processes, incident management, assisting with security risk assessments, understanding information security framework concepts, and providing pertinent security metrics to help the ISO better understand the University of Arizona’s information security posture.
•Provide technical knowledge for the implementation of security measures to protect information systems, networks, and data.
•Contribute security knowledge to discussions and planning for overall security architecture for the University, ensuring security is a foundational concept.
•Provide security domain knowledge to help distributed campus IT security managers.
•Information security related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

•Knowledge concerning information policies based on the NIST framework.

Minimum Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or substantially equivalent educational and job related experience in the information security field.
•Evidence of effective skills in creative problem solving and a team-based approach to achieving success in a highly technical environment.
•Excellent analytical, time management, and interpersonal and organizational skill

Preferred Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in a security related field
•Previous work within the information security field with knowledge and experience in one of the following areas: Threat monitoring, log management, incident management, risk management, compliance (HIPAA, FERPA, PCI DSS, CUI related), or security awareness.
•Continued formal or self-directed education to maintain technical skills.
•Experience working in higher education.
•Hands-on experience with security information and event management tools.
•Hands-on experience with governance, risk and compliance applications.
