The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix Center for Simulation and Innovation is seeking qualified candidates to join our Simulation Center Pool. The Simulation Center Pool positions are split into tiered levels (Entry Level Simulation Worker, Simulation Operator and Inter-Professional Presence (IPP)) to support the Center for Simulation and Innovation (CSI) simulation and events at different levels of skills, experience, and knowledge. As CSI provides services to healthcare students and graduate professionals from several on-campus programs and external clients, these positions may provide inter-professional presence, operate high- and low-fidelity clinical simulation equipment, set-up and tear-down simulation events, and provide a variety of services based on their tiered level’s duties and responsibilities.

This is a part time position, scheduled on an as needed basis. The schedule and hours worked will vary based upon events scheduled in the Simulation Center. The shifts can be scheduled for up to 4-8 hours but will vary based on the needs of the program. When scheduled for a shift, parking costs will be covered by the department. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis and selection of hires will be based on the needs of the program.

The Simulation Center Pool positions may provide CSI training and event support, inter-professional presence, operate high- and low-fidelity clinical simulation equipment, set-up and tear-down simulation events, and provide a variety of services based on their tiered level’s duties and responsibilities.

Entry Level Simulation Worker Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide support in setting up and tearing down simulation events
• Perform additional departmental duties as needed

Simulation Operator Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operate scenarios to support high- and low- fidelity clinical education using simulation technology
• Provide additional support in setting up and tearing down simulation events
• Perform additional departmental duties as needed

Inter-Professional Presence (IPP) Duties & Responsibilities:

• Support learning objectives by guiding students in high- and low- fidelity simulations by providing inter-professional presence
• Enhance the functionality of the CSI staff by communicating effectively with all staff involved in simulations
• Enhance the functionality of the CSI staff with healthcare experience and excellence in communication
• Operate scenarios to support high- and low- fidelity clinical education using simulation technology
• Provide additional support in setting up and tearing down simulation events
• Perform additional departmental duties as needed

Entry Level Simulation Worker Minimum Qualifications:

• High school graduate or GED or equivalent.
• Ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.

Simulation Operator Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 6 months of recent experience providing healthcare proficiently in a clinical setting; OR, experience as a(n) Registered Nurse (RN), Certified Emergency Paramedic (CEP), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), medical assistant, Respiratory Therapist (RT), Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), OR similar healthcare provider professional; OR, at least 6 months of previous experience in a clinical simulation setting; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and or/education.
• Ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.

Inter-Professional Presence (IPP) Minimum Qualifications :

• Current unrestricted license or certification in good standing to practice as a(n) Registered Nurse (RN), Certified Emergency Paramedic (CEP), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), medical assistant, Respiratory Therapist (RT), Physician Assistant (PA), OR similar healthcare provider professional; OR, 3 years’ prior experience as a(n) Registered Nurse (RN), Certified Emergency Paramedic (CEP), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), medical assistant, Respiratory Therapist (RT), Physician Assistant (PA), OR similar healthcare provider professional; OR, equivalent experience in a clinical simulation setting; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and or/education.
• Competency in running simulations and equipment in the room and behind the glass.
• Ability to bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.

Entry Level Simulation Worker Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of basic medical terminology
• Healthcare experience

Simulation Operator Preferred Qualifications:

• Current unrestricted license or certification in good standing to practice in respective healthcare specialty area
• At least 1 year of previous experience in a clinical simulation setting

Inter-Professional Presence (IPP) Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ year(s) of recent experience providing healthcare proficiently in a clinical setting
• Demonstrated mastery of Simulation Operator role.
• Previous experience in a clinical simulation setting
• Previous experience in a hospital setting, e.g. pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, medical/surgical, peri-operative, telemetry, etc.
